Wow, thanks! I’m sorta terrified of what people will think (how lame of me, I know). My parents actually won’t be there, unfortunately, they’re out of the country that week. But school people etc make me nervous. I would have thought the waistcoat would make it more.. offensive? Maybe not. I don’t know. I’m so confused. This is all gonna cost a bit. I’ll need to go bargain hunting.

I would say you’re being realistic as opposed to lame! Waistcoat solves the “mansuit” problem by eliminating a dressy suit coat, and will shape you out to give a tailored/fitted appearance which is kinda what a dress really. It also makes the tie less OMFGLADYTIE and more yupilooksnappy. Some people can really nail the shirt and tie solo though so it’s definitely a personal choice. Topman/shop still have their sale on and tkmaxx always have something if you’re willing to lose 2 hours of your life sifting through their stock. 

Ultimately you should wear what you want to and what you’ll feel happiest and safest in. People probably will look at you at first alright, but they probably won’t care really. If you want some nice shoes go for some Nanny State faux brogues - super cheaps in that mental retro shop in Georges Arcade!
